Project Description

The goal of the project is to build a water point, toilet, and shower for the Modjo Genet CarePoint community and children to improve their health.

Historical Background

Modjo Genet CarePoint is located around 70km east of Ethiopia’s capital, Addis Ababa. At the CarePoint, children do not have access to a standard toilet which affects the health of the children. Children are going to the bathroom in areas that are unsafe for them, and the rarely available water is also unclean. The plan is to extend a water line from the main water source and to construct a water point so that children can use the shower/toilet facility in the CarePoint compound.

Return on Investment Potential

The health of the children will be affected tremendously in a positive way.  This project is directly impacting the children and the community by providing a great opportunity for the children to take showers and use the restroom whenever they want.

Volunteer and Travel Opportunities

The project will be a great opportunity for volunteers to come and visit and see its impact in the community.

Employee Engagement Opportunities

The CarePoint leadership welcomes anyone interested, particularly volunteers to contribute their expertise in health and hygiene and share their advice if there is another modified way of doing the project in the future so that beneficiaries could be even more positively impacted by the project.
